Community Schools: A strategy that organizes school and community resources around student success, community schools are both a place and a set of partnerships. Designed for anybody seeking to make measurable improvement in lives and communities.
Educational Leadership: Designed for educators working full-time, this program helps expand career opportunities and impact beyond the classroom, immersing students in the everyday responsibilities of an educational leader.
TESOL and TESOL CR ITI: Designed for teachers who are certified (or becoming certified) and are seeking New York State certification in ESOL (English to Speakers of Other Languages).

Initial Teacher Preparation Programs

These programs are designed for students who are interested in becoming teachers, but do not yet have their New York State certification to teach. Students who complete the degree are eligible for initial certification.

We offer a Master of Arts in Teaching (MAT) degree in adolescence education (grades 7-12), as well as a Master of Science in Education (MSEd) in childhood and early childhood education (birth through grade 6).

Non-Certification Graduate Programs

TLEL offers non-certification graduate programs for students who are interested in education, but not looking to earn New York State certification.

Our Master of Arts (MA) in TESOL (Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages) enables graduates to teach English as a second language in higher education settings in the United States or across the globe.

Our Master of Science (MS) in Educational Studies is designed for students interested in education as a general area of study. The program is centered around three areas: foundations, teaching and learning, and research. This program is offered both in-person and online.
